I used, Yarn Art Flowers moonlight, 53% cotton/ 43% acrylic/ 4% metallic polyester, 260 g/1000 m.
(This is a thin fingering weigh type of yarn) with a 3 mm crochet hook.
I used 3 cakes: 3000 m/ 3280 yards for a baby blanket sized 1.2 m X 1.2 m. Making 3 and a half of the repeat section. For more repeats and a larger blanket you will require additional skeins.

Stitch abbreviations:
Chain = ch
Single crochet = sc
Half double crochet = hdc
Double crochet = dc
Popcorn = pc (5 dc in same, remove hook from last, insert in first dc, pick up last and pull through
both, ch1 as part of pc)
Treble/triple crochet = trc
Back post = bp
Front post = fp
Slip stitch = slp
… = All stitches done in same space or stitch for example: corner spaces
= Repeat the stitch pattern as many times as indicated
(…) = Repeat for all 4 sides
