This is a fundraising pattern for my late brother, Mino (1971-2004)

“Moonlight Japarta” is a soft and light small scarf. It makes the perfect little accessory or gift. The scarf is knit with a garter stitch lace pattern – no purling required. It is suitable for beginner lace knitters, as the shaping is easily achieved by using three different needle sizes. The final result is not a perfect rectangle. You may adjust the length to your liking and play with a single color, two colors, or self-striping yarns.

My late brother, Minoru Hokari (AKA “Mino”), loved the moon, always watching it from the window of his hospital or hospice room. From anywhere in the world, we see the same moon. That’s Mino for me.

Required yardage: 135-200 yrds

Before blocking: 30” x 6.5”/5.5”/6”

After blocking: 40” x 8”/5”/7”

All the proceeds of this pattern will be donated to the Minoru Hokari Memorial Scholarship Fund at the Australian National University. My late brother, Minoru Hokari (“Mino” 1971-2004) died of cancer at the age of 32. The scholarship fund supports young scholars who study Indigenous Australians through fieldwork. We are trying to fully fund it to achieve its perpetuity. Please help.
