The sweater is worked from the top down, where the neckband and the sleeves are knitted from picked up stitches. Additionally, short rows are used to create the slant of the shoulder and the sleeve caps.

Moonlight sweater strikkes både i patentstrik samt i glatstrik for at skabe en kontrast mellem krop og ærmer. Sweateren strikkes oppefra og ned, hvor halskanten samt ærmerne strikkes ud fra opsamlede masker. Herudover bruges der vendepinde til at forme både skulderhældningen samt ærmekuplen.
