Moonrise Socks
In many cultures around the world, moths are a symbol of transformation, change, and searching for the light in the darkness. They are just like most of us, trying to make our way out of the dark.
Featuring delicate colorwork motifs around the leg and foot, a ribbed cuff, and a garter stitch short row heel. These socks capture the beauty and uniqueness of our fluttering nighttime friends.
Materials:
Needles: Needles: Size US 1 (2.25mm) needles in either 9” circulars, 32” circulars, or DPNs. I used 9” circulars for most of the sock and DPNs for the toe.
Yarn: Approx. (235, 275, 320)yds/(215, 250, 290)m/(51, 60, 69)g of fingering weight yarn for MC and (35, 40, 45)yds/(30, 35, 45)m/(8, 9, 10)g for CC. Light blue sample was made in Classic Sock from Red Door Fibre Studio (462yds/100g) in the colorways I Have to Go Home and Very Sexy but Insane Witch
Sample shown in Size 2 with 250yds/54g of MC, and 37yds/8g of CC.
Notions: BOR Marker, 1 stitch marker to mark halfway for heel and toe, tapestry needle for grafting toe
