Moraine Lake Cable Hat
Moraine Lake Cable Hat is a beanie knit from the edge up. The pattern inspired by one of the prettiest lakes in Canada. In the olden days, cable trams and railways were the links to access many remote areas in the Rocky Mountains. My love of the outdoors, especially hiking at Moraine Lake, Alberta, Canada, is my ode to this stunning lake and aptly named. Moraine Lake Cable Socks is another version of this pattern.
This is a cozy hat sure to become one of your favourites this fall!
The yarn used is fingering weight and the construction is bottom-up, with a 2x2 ribbing and cables galore.
I have made the beanie in using 1 skein (100g/ 3.5 oz.) of Ancient Arts Little Nettle Soft Fingering in colourway Feldspar. Content is (68% Superwash Fine Merino/ 32% Nettle). Substituting other fingering weight yarns would be appropriate.
Difficulty Intermediate: You will need to know how to cast on, knit and purl stitch, decrease, and some easy cable stitches (instructions provided).
Size: Unisex One Size (fits head circumference 21-24”/53-61 cm.
This pattern has been tested.
