Morgenster is worked top down. The middle part of the body is worked in a simple lace pattern, with both sides in Garter Stitch. The random placement of beads gives the shawl a bit of a sparkle. The ruffled border is created by increasing every second row within the lace pattern. I recommend using stitch markers while working the border. The border part can be started at any RS row, making this an highly adaptable pattern.

Yarn:
MC: 398 yds/365 m heavy lace weight yarn.
CC: 185 yds/170 m heavy lace weight yarn
Sample is shown in Dutch Knitting Design’s Tulp (365m/55gr)
Waste yarn for provisional cast on
Needles: 1 US 5/3, 75mm circular of length 40 in/100 cm.
Hooks:
1 in the same size for cast on.
1 size 0.6mm for placing beads.
Beads: approx. 1000 Miyuki beads size 8/0

Gauge
Not important, though it will effect the finished size.

Sizes
Directions are given for 1 size.
53 in/135 cm wide and 21.5 in/55 cm long after blocking.
