Morgun Socks
The socks are worked upwards from toe to cuffs. The lace panel is located in the front only, making it easy to knit socks using magic-loop technique. The heels are shaped using w&t short rows. The socks are finished with short ribbed cuffs.
Size
Various sizing is achieved by using different yarn weights.
Small: to fit 18 cm/7” foot circumference.
Medium: to fit 20.5 cm/8” foot circumference.
Large: to fit 23.5 cm/9.25” foot circumference.
The modeled sample is in size M.
Yarn
Small: any fingering weight yarn.
Medium: 1 skein of Cecily Grove Yarns Goya Sport (100% merino; 300m/325y per 100g). Shown in colorway Serene.
Large: any DK weight yarn.
Needles
Small:
2.5mm/US#1.5 circular needle (80 cm/32” long) for magic-loop or dpns.
2.25mm/US#1 circular needle (80 cm/32” long) for magic-loop or dpns, or one size smaller than gauge needles.
Medium:
2.75mm/US#2 circular needle (80 cm/32” long) for magic-loop or dpns.
2.5mm/US#1.5 circular needle (80 cm/32” long) for magic-loop or dpns, or one size smaller than gauge needles.
Large:
3.5mm/US#4 circular needle (80 cm/32” long) for magic-loop or dpns.
3.25mm/US#3 circular needle (80 cm/32” long) for magic-loop or dpns, or one size smaller than gauge needles.
Other
marker (optional), tapestry needle for weaving.
Gauge
Small: 8 sts and 11 rnds = 2.5 cm/1” in St st worked in the rnd, after wet blocking.
Medium: 7 sts and 9.5 rnds = 2.5 cm/1” in St st worked in the rnd, after wet blocking.
Large: 6 sts and 8 rnds = 2.5 cm/1” in St st worked in the rnd, after wet blocking.
Take time to save time - check your gauge. If necessary, adjust needle size to obtain the correct gauge.
