The hat is a great companion to the Grandma’s mittens, same structure and the same yarn can be used. You can wear it either as a beanie, close fitting to the head, or slouchy without the rim being folded. If knitted in one color, only one skein of appr. 400 m is needed. The striped version will leave enough leftovers to finish a pair of mittens aswell.
