This pattern is worked in alternating rows of the bean stitch, and the herringbone double crochet. The number of skeins needed will depend of the size of the blanket you are wanting.

SSC-stacked single crochet (this will be your “turning chain” Do not chain at the beginning of each row. insert your hook into the first stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop. Yarn over and pull through both loops on the hook. Insert your hook into the vertical bar below, yarn over and pull up a loop. Yarn over and pull through both loops on hook.

SC-single crochet

BS-bean stitch (insert hook and pull up a loop. 2 loops on hook. yarn over, insert hook into same stitch and pull up a loop. 4 loops on hook. Yarn over insert hook into the same stitch and pull up a loop. 6 loops on hook. Yarn over and pull through all 6 loops on hook. Chain 1 to secure the stitch. Skip the next stitch and work a bean stitch stitch into the next. )

HBDC-herringbone double crochet (yarn over, insert hook into stitch. Pull yarn through the chain and the first loop on hook. 2 loops on hook. Yarn over and pull yarn through first loop on hook. Yarn over and pull yarn through two remaining loops.

I recommend doing a single crochet border around blanket for a clean finish.
