Morning Glory Mittens
“A Color Twined Knitting primer,” says Brown-Reinsel. “Using a strand from each end of a center pull ball of yarn (wound of either one or two colors of yarn), creates a fabric that has great warmth, strength, and durability, and elasticity. This technique takes some patience and effort to master, but will soon reward the tenacious knitter with ease, moderate speed, and lovely garments. This classic Swedish motif was knitted in both men’s and women’s garments in the area of Hälsingland.” An encyclopedic pattern, as is wonderfully usual with this designer, with every size’s colourwork charted separately, and a bibliography for further reading! Photos illustrate the twined cast-on; chock full of tips and wise, friendly help. Calls for worsted weight yarn (250 yards/4 oz). (From pattern description at Patternfish)
