Morningstar is a beaded and lacy, top-down, crescent shaped shawl designed to be knit in almost any solid coloured, or semi-solid, heavy-weight lace yarn of around 600m/100g with the exception of alpaca-based yarns – you will need a yarn base that will retain its shape after blocking. The original shawl was worked in Lichtfaden Rei Lace which has a wonderfully crunchy texture perfect for this shawl.

Finished size (as written): As written 75” (191cm) wide, 24.5” (62cm) deep after blocking. Measurements taken using Lichtfaden Rei Lace 625m/100g. Final measurements will depend on yarn used, tension and blocking and are therefore given as a guide only.

Circular Needles: 3.5mm (US4), 3.75mm (US5), 4mm (US 6) and 4.5mm (US7) circular needles or sizes to create a pleasing fabric with good drape, Stitch Markers, Needle, Blocking Pins. Changing needle size and gauge will result in a change in yardage requirements.

Beads and crochet hook: Just under 1300 Miyuki, Toho or Matubo size 6 seed beads and a size 1mm crotat hook (or crochet hook small enough to fit through the hole of your chosen beads).

Gauge: 17sts to 4” on Chart 2 using 3.75mm (US5) needles with measurements taken after blocking. A difference in tension will result in a difference in yardage requirements.

The pattern is both fully written and charted with bead placement clearly indicated throughout.
