About this pattern
‘Morozko’ is a double-layered cowl, knit bottom up in the round. Outer layer is decorated with a unisex print of faux cables against moss-stitch background. Inner layer is knit in a novelty ‘faux fur’ yarn for extra warmth and super cozy feel (you can also knit inside layer in the same yarn as outside if you prefer).
You start with a provisional cast on, then work your way up the outer layer and continue right away with the inner layer in the other yarn. When finished, undo the provisional cast on and graft the two layers together.
This cowl is part of a set with Morozko Hat.

Sizes: 2 sizes are listed as 1 (2) and are intended for children 0-3 y.o (3-8 y.o.).
The cowl is 45 (55) cm / 17.5 (21.5)” in circumference and 35 cm / 17” long

Yarn
Outer layer (with print) ~200 (300) m / 220 (325) yds of DK weight yarn with high soft wool content (e.g. merino). Sample knit out of Lana Gatto ‘Super Soft’
Inner layer (faux fur) ~200 (275) m / 220 (300) yds of ‘faux fur’ yarn (likely labelled as ‘bulky’ – 140-160 m /155-175 yds per 100g / 3.5 oz). Sample knit out of YarnArt Mink

You can also knit inside layer in the same yarn as outside if you prefer. In that case you will need a bit less than double the indicated amount of outer layer yarn.

Needles – 4 sets of circular needles on ~40cm/16” cable in the following sizes:
• Main 4.5mm/US 7 (or size to get gauge!)
• Smallest – 3.5mm / US 4 or 1mm / 2-3 US sizes smaller than main (2 sets, or one even smaller size / longer cable);
• Middle – 4mm / US 6 or 0.5mm / 1-2 US sizes smaller than main.

Gauge (measured after wet-blocking, unstretched per 10cm/4” square): 19-20 sts by 30 rows in stockinette on main needles with outer layer (smooth) yarn.
If using yarns different from suggested, swatch in both and measure your swatches before and after blocking to know how yarns behave, so that the length of the layers ends up the same!
