I wanted to create a unisex design that looks great on everyone and I think I’ve accomplished just that. I was struggling with a name for this hat. Nothing I came up with seemed quite right. A huge thank you goes out to Leanne for coming up with the name for this hat! xo

Shape:
a snug fitting, textured hat

Materials:
any DK or Aran weight yarn
US size 4 (3.5mm) and US size 6 (4mm) needles in preferred style for working in the round (or the size needed to obtain gauge)
stitch markers
tapestry needle

Gauge:
22sts = 4 inches in stockinette stitch with smaller needles

Knitting Needles:
16” 3.5mm circular knitting needles
16” 4mm circular knitting needles
4mm dpns (for crown decreases)

Yardage Requirements:
Approximately 80y to 220y depending on size and style knit.

Please note, I have added 5% to the yardage requirements compared to my usage to account fora small variance in tension.

Sizing: baby/toddler (child/adult small, adult medium, adult large) to fit head circumference of 17 (20, 22, 24)” / 43 (51, 56, 61)cm

Measurements: 14 (17, 19, 21)” / 36 (43, 48, 53)cm around by 6 (7, 8, 9)” / 15 (18, 20, 23)cm tall for a beanie fit or 8 (9, 10, 11)” / 20 (23, 25, 28)cm tall for a slouchy fit

The sample (beige) was knit using one skein of Illimani Yarn (approximately 150 yards) on their Amelie base (an Aran weight yarn) in the adult medium size.

Techniques Used In This Pattern: Most stitches used in this pattern are beginner stitches. You will need to know how to knit and purl, k2tog and ssk. A Twisted German cast on is used to begin the hat but a link to a tutorial video on YouTube is included for those that are unfamiliar or need a refresher.

Happy knitting!
