This was a rush release, and, isn’t tested per say (and I hope y’all will forgive my urgency). PLEASE CONTACT ME IF YOU SEE A NEED FOR A CORRECTION.

While this is a free pattern, support is given- email is best to ask (Ravelry doesn’t notify me of messages easily).

PLEASE FEEL FREE TO MAKE A DONATION TO A HUMAN RIGHTS CHARITY OF YOUR CHOICE if you’re able in lieu of a paid pattern

This was a project built from frustration and hopelessness, and heavily inspired by knitters in WW1 (who would hide messages in garments- if you’ve enjoyed this project, I encourage you to look into this practice.)

I hope I’ve adapted this practice into the world of crochet in an easily accessible way so all y’all can partake.

PLEASE READ THROUGH THE INSTRUCTIONS FIRST

This is a GUIDE on how to make your own- not a limited set of instructions to make a specific piece (the rainbow “RESIST” scarf pattern is included, but this includes a guide on how to create your own sayings into scarfs or other items.)
Pattern for the “RESIST” scarf is created using worsted weight (4) yarn and a 5 mm hook; you may adjust as you’d like.

Level: Accomplished beginner/early intermediate

(stitches are simple, but this is a “choose your own adventure” where you can piece together something completely your own- knowledge of right side/wrong side is key for making your own, as well as the ability to piece sections together under instruction)
Finished size: You may create any almost any length and width of scarf from this (limited only by the word/saying/sentence you’ve chosen)

THIS PATTERN MAY NOT BE RESOLD: you may not resell this pattern, however, you may share this free pattern (and it would be hecking lovely if you credit me for my work).
You may sell your creations from this pattern- online, in person, and on a commission basis: please credit CuteCreepyCrochet for the pattern (and please feel free to share your creations on social media- if you wish to tag, please use CuteCreepyCrochet on IG, Ravelry, TikTok, and Facebook. I’d love to see what you’ve come up with!)

Supplies:

• You may choose whatever yarn you’d like to work with- I would suggest working out what you’d like your scarf to say before choosing (a block of text may be better with a lighter weight yarn so you’re not left with a blanket sized scarf- not to scarf shame, ‘cause I do love a cozy scarf… just be aware so you’re not surprised)
• Stitch markers, or similar (to help with repeating words/stitch counts- optional)
• Choose whatever hook translates best for your yarn choice (this will give you the best drape and stitch tension).

Stitches/Abbreviations Used- US terminology

• St: stitch
• Ch: chain
• Sl st: slip stitch
• SC: single crochet
• DC: double crochet
• POP: popcorn stitch (5 double crochet popcorn stitch)
• F/O: finish or fasten off
• Numbers in brackets at row ends gives you the final stitch count for that row
