This scarf is named after the beautiful mermaid Morveren from the legend of Zennor. I am completely obsessed with folklore and I can’t help but think of mermaids when I look at the scale-like, or wave-like, design that this pattern creates!

The completed scarf measures roughly 74 inches (189cm) long and 6 ¾ inches (17.5cm) wide. The length is adjustable to preference.

This scarf pattern is perfect for an experienced crocheter. If you are not that experienced yet and are feeling adventurous, there are pictures of each stage to help you understand what’s going on. There is also a condensed version so that it is easier to follow once you have a grasp of the pattern.

The yarn used for this is quite a lightweight DK so if you would like to use a different one (or you crochet quite loose) you may need more than two balls. I found that when making it with Stylecraft Special DK, I needed to use 3 balls to get the length that I wanted.

To complete this pattern you will need to understand the following techniques -

UK -

chain
slip stitch
double crochet
half treble crochet
treble crochet
double treble crochet

US -

chain
slip stitch
single crochet
half double crochet
double crochet
treble crochet
