The theme this year for my advent scarf is Mosaic. This is a continuous pattern as opposed to a stitch sampler scarf. The mosaic pattern is going to slowly mutate as the pattern progresses, so that the end of the scarf will be different from the start.

I’m using a Berroco Ultra Alpaca Fine and Dalegarn Erle. These happen to be a fingering weight and a laceweight yarn. Using a laceweight yarn is not critical to the design. I just happen to like the fabric, so if you don’t choose to use a fine mohair yarn, then choose 2 fingering weights. The important thing is to have good contrast between your two yarns. If you choose a heavier weight yarn, your scarf will be wider. Mine is measuring 6.5 inches wide and will be between 60 and 65 inches long.

The pattern is charted with right side rows only. In Mosaic knitting the wrong side rows mimic the right side rows. There are written directions as well. I’ll be giving 30 rows a day. There is a dedicated Advent Scarf thread in the Sock Madness Forever Please feel welcome to join us.

Enjoy!
