This cute mug rug is perfect for using up scraps of yarn. It is a good little pattern to try something different which you may be able to include in other projects. It measures 12.5 cm square (5” square).

This pattern is intermediate level because there are some special stitches which are not used in regular mosaic overlay crochet. These include Angle DC and Angle DC2 together.

The pattern has been updated to include written instructions. It also includes a chart and some general instructions as well as detail about the special stitches. There are a number of photos and a link to my video showing how to work the special stitches.

When choosing colours, it is important to choose contrasting colours so the pattern stands out. Any yarn can be used but, of course, the size will vary depending on yarn and tension.
