The Mosaic Granny Square is an overlay mosaic crochet pattern, and included in the pattern are written instructions and a chart. The pattern is written in UK terms and there are comprehensive pattern notes and links to helpful videos if you have not worked this type of crochet before.
The granny square can grow to be as big as you like, just keep repeating the last four rounds.
