Mosaic Growth
Mosaic Growth is an allover lace tam inspired by the succulent gardens that are so prominent in California since the drought.
The simple yet striking lace pattern is the main feature of this hat. It is also incorporated into the crown decreases, reminiscent of the flower-like center of some succulents; in particular the Mosaic Flower (or Ludwiga Seidioides ) which is a pond plant with floating leaves that form a distinctive pattern of concentric growth.
One size is provided, but different sizes can easily be achieved by changing yarn and needle size accordingly.
You can also knit the brim in the larger needle size for a looser fit or to accommodate for larger sizes.
Looks great with -1” to +2” ease according to preference.
The pattern is written to use 1 skein of yarn for a lightly slouchy fit. If you chose to make an extra long version (for longer hair, dreads, or if you just like a longer fit) it may take 2 skeins.
Gauge measured in stockinette:
US#7(4.5mm): 19 sts = 4”/10cm
US#8(5mm): 17 sts = 4”/10cm
Pattern is given in written and charted form for both the pattern and the crown decreases.
Thank you to my test knitters for all the help!
