Call it WAY more than a shawl. I’m calling it a mantle, a short swingy cape to wear over your winter coat or jacket to jazz that thing UP! This garment is knit with Kauni’s spectacular Effekt yarn in fingering weight, and the color fade is dramatically long, making barely perceptible shifts in hue for a fabric that dazzles. The work takes on the look of a mosaic using slipped stitches to create the appearance of colorful tiles or bricks. The mantle is knit from the top down, and the pattern relies on increases at the edges to allow the rows of bricks to offset each other.

Provided with the pattern are 2 sizes, S/M and L/XL. Plenty of wiggle room and leeway in this garment!

You’ll need US Size 6/4 mm 24” circular needle and 60” circular needles.

2 balls Kauni Effekt (fingering weight) in a color fade of your choice; and
2 balls Kauni solid (fingering weight) in a solid color to complement the CC, recommended to be darker than the darkest color in the CC. You’ll have enough leftover of the solid color to make a hat to go with your mantle!
