Ever wanted to learn how to knit with the Mosaic technique….and keep your hands warm too? The Mosaic Medley Fingerless Gloves offers you an opportunity to explore Mosaic colour work with a choice of three different charts, resulting in three different designs. Each chart lets you discover the beauty of geometrical patterns, with stunning results.
The Mosaic Medley Fingerless Gloves are knit in warm, DK yarn, in solid colours of high contrast for maximum effect. Beginning from the cuff, they incorporate an Afterthought Thumb and are embellished with a Two Coloured Vikkel Braid.
Knit entirely in Stockinette Stitch with instructions for Magic Loop knitting, this will be an absorbing yet quick project for the adventurous beginner, where you’ll learn all skills needed, in tutorial format.
Extensive pattern support is offered through charts, written instructions and video demonstrations for a number of techniques: Casting On in the Round with Magic Loop, Mosaic Knitting, Afterthought Thumb and the Two Coloured Vikkel Braid.
Instructions are given for three generic sizes in circumference.
Small: 8”/20.3 cm, Medium: 8.5”/21.6 cm, and Large: 9”/23.8 cm for casting on a total of 52, (56, 60) stitches, to fit hand circumference of 8”/20.3 cm, 8.5”/21.6 cm and 9”/22.85 cm. Note: All sizes can accommodate 0.5”/1.1 cm ease for a snug fit.
Instructions for customized hand lengths are also included for individual fit.
Yarn:
50g (109yd/100m) BWM Classic 100% Merino DK (8ply) in Midnight Blue.
40g (87.5yd/80m) BWM Classic 100% Merino DK (8ply) in Raffia.
Or equivalent yardage/meterage of DK (8ply) in high contrasting colours.
Needles: 3.00mm circular needles, 39.3”/100cm cable.
Gauge: 26 sts x 44 rows = 4”/10cm Mosaic Chart A/B/C. Produces a firm durable fabric. Row gauge not important as length is customized.
Notions: 4 removable markers, 10”/25cm fingering scrap yarn in contrasting colour to both CC and MC, darning needle.
Fully tech edited and test knit.
