This is two patterns in one!

The scarf and the cowl are knitted partly with a one-color Garter Stitch and partly with the mosaic knitting technique. The two-color motif is created by changing the color of the yarn every two rows and using a combination of knit stitches and slipped stitches. Both forms are consisted of two sections arranged alternately.

Finished measurements measured after wet blocking:
SCARF: approx. 71”/180 cm length and 9”/23 cm width
COWL: 47.25”/120 cm in circumference and 9”/23 cm height

Yarn:
You can use any DK/aran/worsted weight yarn of your choice.

SCARF
Main Color – Lima DROPS (65% Wool, 35% Alpaca; 1.8oz/50g = 109 yds/100 m); col. 9020 pearl grey – 4 skeins (usage: 5.45 oz/154 g = 337 yds/308 m)
Contrasting Color – Merino 120 color LANG YARNS (100% Wool Merino; 5.45 oz/50 g = 131 yds/120 m); col. 011 – 2 skeins (usage: 2.32 oz/66 g = 175 yds/160 m)

COWL
Main Color – Lima DROPS (65% Wool, 35% Alpaca; 1.8oz/50g = 109 yds/100 m); col. 9020 pearl grey – 3 skeins (usage: 3.70 oz/105 g = 230 yds/210 m)
Contrasting Color – Big Delight DROPS (100% Wool; 3.5 oz/100 g = 208 yds/190 m); col. 08 – 1 skein (usage: 2.10 oz/60 g = 126 yds/115 m)

Tools:

  • circular needles US 7 / 4.5 mm,
  • 4 stitch markers,
  • 4.5 mm crochet hook for Crochet Cast On,
  • tapestry needle for weaving and grafting

Additionally in the cowl:

  • the same size or smaller sized circular needles to transfer live stitches from Provisional Cast On,
  • 4.5 mm crochet hook and additional piece of yarn with a smooth structure and a strong twist for Provisional Cast On

Gauge: 21 sts and 38 rows over 4”/10 cm in Garter Stitch and Mosaic Stitch after wet blocking.
