The pattern is in Mosaic Crochet Technique and in the square making.
This pattern is in two versions: Simple and Complex Mosaic Pine Tree.
For the first version, I used cotton yarn and 2 skeins for each color. For a complete cushion, you will need 4 skeins of each color. The first version is available HERE for free.

The second version will need a bit more because you will be working more double crochet.

But you are absolutely welcome to use any yarn of your choice. The finished size will definitely depend on the yarn weight and hook size you use.

The second version can be an independent motif.
