Mosaic Plaid Stocking
Mosaic knitting makes this large Christmas stocking much easier than it looks, as you work with only one colour per round. Choose 3 colours: one dark (DK), one light (LT) and one halfway between the two for your main colour (MC). Just about any 3 colours work if you make sure that the MC is about halfway between the other two.
The stocking is worked from the top down, beginning at the cuff. Everything but the Heel is worked in the round, with the Heel worked back and forth using short rows for shaping. The yarn colour needed is indicated at the beginning of each round (LT, MC, or DK). Make sure that your MC is the one that is halfway between the other two colours.
Size:
About 8” (20cm) wide x 18.5” (47cm) long

• Aran or bulky weight yarn, about 292 yards total (MC: 126 yds, LT: 107 yds, DK: 59 yds)
• size US 10 (6.00mm) circular needles – I used 33” long – use DPNs for smaller sections such as the Toe and optional i-cord hanger, if you prefer
• 1 end-of-round stitch marker
• scrap yarn or 2 stitch holders
