Mosaic PRIDE 2021
Happy PRIDE month!!! To celebrate my queerness and all the other people in the queer community, I have designed this pattern. Mosaic PRIDE 2021 is bold and challenging. This is NOT a beginner pattern. It’s more like an intermediate to advanced pattern. You should know the basics of mosaic crochet and be able to follow instructions fairly well before attempting this pattern.
This, as with all of my mosaic patterns, uses the overlay mosaic crochet technique.
Update 6/24/2021:
I have now created and published a written/video tutorial for all of the special stitches used in my patterns. They are free. I recommend doing that tutorial and then this pattern will be easy peasy. Here’s the link to the free Ravelry pattern: https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/mosaic-circle-bug
And here is the video tutorial on YouTube:
Features of this pattern:
– 4 charts, one flat and one round for two different versions of the pattern (one is smaller than the sample shown)
– Full written instructions for each chart in the pattern
– Written plus photo instructions for creating Twisted Fringe
– Written plus photo instructions for creating a Double Border
– Written instructions for special stitches used in the pattern
– Written plus photo instructions for working mosaic crochet in joined rounds
– Written plus photo instructions for working mosaic and tapestry crochet together (MoTap - i.e. working with more than one color in a row)
Written in US crochet terms. Any yarn and hook will work, hook should be recommended size by yarn label, or one to two sizes smaller, depending on the look you’d like to achieve. Double border uses a hook one size smaller than the body of the piece. Yardage depends on your project, weight of yarn, and hook used.
The sample wall hanging made for this pattern was created using a combination of Caron Skinny Cakes and Lion Brand Mandala Cakes with a 3.5mm hook for the body and a 3.25mm hook for the border. The finished piece measures 29” wide by 18.5” high.
The bag sample was made by Elisa Jenkins Bradshaw, Akairezu as a test of the pattern. This is the smaller version done in the round in the Leather Pride flag colors. The finished bag measures 24” long by 8” in diameter and was made with worsted weight yarn and a (?) size crochet hook. Thank you Elisa for your hard work and your input into the pattern. Much love and well done!
