Mosaic Tree Skirt
This is an overlay mosaic crochet pattern for a Christmas tree skirt. There are size options which make a final diameter of between 28” and 40” across the whole piece if using DK yarn.
The project is worked flat in rows with increases which create an almost round, octagon (8-sided) shape (see photos). The final skirt has one open side to go around the base of your tree - the tree skirt will overlap at the back to make sure your stand is fully covered. If you want the tree skirt to lay completely flat you will need to block your work, but for an angled tree stand like mine in the photos this is less necessary.
The design includes a chart and written instructions. This pattern is suitable for someone who is intermediate at crochet. If you are new to mosaic crochet patterns, I include some basic instructions and photos, and links for some of my favorite video tutorials. You will work each row in only one color to create the designs, and I suggest making a small ‘envelope’ border to finish your project.
You could also use the pattern charts for other projects like blankets, cushions, wall hangings or a table runner, amongst many possibilities. I’d love to see what you make!
For my tree skirt, I used 1,050 meters / 1150 yards/ 350g yarn - approx 200g color A (background) yarn, and 150g color B (design). For a larger tree skirt, you may need up to 450g/ 1,350 meters.
I also have a blanket & hat pattern made with this snowflake design - you can buy them in a bundle with the tree skirt for £1-2 off your total (no code needed, but cannot be combined with other offers/ codes).
