I’m an awful planner, and I realised I needed to get Christmas presents done for my mum and her husband in just about no time flat. When sufficiently determined, I can knit a pair of these in a day.

These slippers are filling what (at least I felt) was a gap in the Ravelry database: slippers that don’t require felting, leatherwork, seaming, or anything other than basic sock techniques but worked with bulky yarn. There actually isn’t even any Kitchener stitch in this pattern.

The heel in the instructions is a basic heel flap, but this could be replaced with your heel of choice. These are knit cuff down.

Sizing options included are adult small (~EU 36), medium (~EU 40), and large (~EU 44). Those shoe sizes represent more of a range/starting point than an exact size. Instructions are given to adjust the pattern for fit.

All sizes have been tested. Sample photos are using Lang Yarns Anouk (red/orange, adult medium), Lana Grossa Estremo (pink, adult medium), and Lana Grossa Weekend (blue, adult large).

Note: Please double check your gauge! It seems bulky/jumbo means different things to different brands/people, which can have a big effect on the fit of your sock.

Materials needed are:

  • 80-100 yards bulky/jumbo yarn (aka probably two 100g skeins, but check yardage because bulky can be sneaky)
  • 6mm / Size 10 DPNs (5 of them)
  • Cable needle (I used a 6th DPN)
  • Tapestry needle
