Moser the mole
This is a .pdf crochet pattern, written in standard American crochet terms. Meet Moser, a sweet and cuddly crochet version of the adorable looking creature the mole. With this easy pattern you can make a very sturdy mole, with a miners safety helmet if you like.
Size
Size of finished mole made with worsted weight yarn: 4.6 inch / 11.5 cm
The crochet pattern contains
An intro with useful info. List of materials, tools and accessories needed. Brand and colour numbers of the needed yarn. A clear and colour coded description of how to crochet and assemble the animal. Pictures and illustrations to help getting everything right. All my patterns are text edited for correct English and have been tested by an experienced crocheter before publishing.
Materials
For this little mole you’ll need worsted weight yarn and an E US/3.5 mm crochet hook. You’ll need two colours of yarn, brown black (1/3 of a 100 yard skein) and oatmeal (1/10) and a bit of pink for the nose. These quantities are estimates. For the eyes I’ve used 5 mm animal eyes and I needle felted a pink nose (0.3 inch/ 1 cm). A crochet magic ring of 4-5 stitches or safety nose will work too. You will also need fibrefill and pellets for a bit of extra weight in the body (I use Hama beads). For the miners safety hat you need two extra colours, yellow and light grey. Lopi colour numbers: 0052,1419, 1703 and 0054.
Yarn
Istex Lett lopi. I strongly recommend using a fuzzy yarn because it gives the best result.
Gauge is unimportant for this pattern. If the pieces are crocheted tightly enough, they will not gape visibly when stuffed. You can make a little test swap to be sure.
