MOSIPPA
Mosippa is a very cosy and snug hat with a pattern of embossed drops. It’s going to help you stay warm through the winter, while stylish at the same time. If you want a matching shawl, check out my shawl pattern Droppe.
Mosippa is the county flower of Härjedalen, where the yarn in the sample hat comes from.
YARN CHOICE
The yarn used in the sample hat is a locally sourced and produced wool yarn from Härjedalen in the north of Sweden. My friend Birgitta has a lovely flock of sheep, both from the local unregistered breed Härjedal sheep, Jämtland sheep, Swedish leicester sheep and from crossbreds. The wool is of a high quality and has won several prizes at the Swedish wool championships through the years.
This particular yarn is made from a cross of 50% Jämtland sheep, which is a Swedish merino cross developed to survive in our cold climate while at the same time giving a very fine and soft wool. The rest of the cross is Swedish leicester sheep, finewool and Oxford down sheep. It gives a soft and shiny yarn. You can find Birgitta’s yarn at OPPiNILS, oppinils.com.
If you choose a different yarn, pick one of about 280-320 m/100g, and try to support your local sheep farmer if you’re able to!

Approximately 22 cm high x 52 cm circumference in sample hat.
