Its construction, while not complex, combines different techniques that makes this hat a fun project. A provisional cast-on is the starting point to a cabled motif that goes all around the garment, knit flat. Afterwards, you will graft both ends together to join invisibly in the round. From this point forward, you will pick up stitches on both sides. The crown is shaped with short rows for a slouchier look in the back. The brim is knit in twisted 1x1 rib and is finished with a tubular cast-off.

Brim circumference: approx 48cm / 19in.
If you would like to make it in a bigger or smaller size, you may experiment by either adding or subtracting cable pattern repeats until you achieve an appropriate circumference for the body of the hat.

Yarn
260 m /284 yds of fingering weight yarn.

Sample A: Made with 65g of Alma Yarn’s Alma Luxury Fingering, 4 ply, 100% extrafine merino SW wool, color Love Spell, 400m/ 437yds in 100g.
Sample B: Made with 70g of Lanas de la Luzma’s 100% merino SW, color Jacinto 400m/ 437yds in 100g.

Gauge
26 s x 38 rows in 10cm/ 4in. Measured over stockinette stitch with 3.5mm needles, after blocking.

Suggested needles
Circular or DPNs 3.5mm (or size necessary to obtain gauge) and your prefered materials to knit small circumferences.

Stitch markers, waste yarn, tapestry needle.

Su construcción, si bien no es compleja, combina distintas técnicas que convierten a este gorro en un proyecto entretenido. Se inicia con un montaje provisional que dará origen al motivo trenzado que recorre todo el contorno, tejido en plano. Luego, con la técnica del grafting, se unen ambos extremos de manera invisible para comenzar a tejer en redondo, levantando puntos en ambos costados. A la parte superior se le da forma con vueltas cortas, logrando un efecto más abultado en la parte de atrás, mientras que la pretina se teje en punto elástico retorcido y se termina con un cierre tubular.

Medidas terminadas
Circunferencia de pretina de 48 cm.
Si quieres una talla más grande o más pequeña, puedes experimentar restando repeticiones del patrón de trenza hasta obtener un contorno adecuado al tamaño que buscas de acuerdo a tu muestra.

Hilado
Aproximadamente 260 m de hilado grosor fingering.
Muestra A: tejida con 65 gr de Alma Luxury Fingering, 4 ply, 100% merino extrafina SW de Alma Yarns, color Love Spell, 400 m en 100 gr.
Muestra B: tejida con 70g de 100% merino SW de Lanas de la Luzma, color Jacinto, 400 m en 100 g.

Agujas circulares o de doble punta de 3.5mm (o tamaño necesario para obtener muestra) con cable largo para hacer magic loop o tus materiales preferidos para tejer circunferencias pequeñas.

Marcador de punto, lana de descarte, aguja lanera.

Tejer en redondo, levantar puntos, tejer circunferencias pequeñas, hacer cruces de trenza, leer diagramas de trenza, vueltas cortas alemanas, montaje provisional, cierre tubular, coser con punto kitchener.
