description

the moss rose hottie is an overall textured hot water bottle cover. the textured section is relatively easy to memorize if you are familiar with reading your stitches in the row below. it’s a quick project to use up 200 m of DK weight yarn and give your beloved hot water bottle a well deserved new dress.

size

designed for a hot water bottle with measurements of 27 x 20 cm.

materials

  • 200 m of DK weight to light worsted weight yarn (example uses 100 gr of merino worsted by olivia&oliver fibers)
  • 3,5 mm circular needles (60-80 cm)
  • 3 mm circular needles (60-80 cm)
  • darning needle
  • optional: removable stitch marker
  • optional: crochet hook of similar size to crochet cast on edge together

gauge

19 sts x 38 rows = 10 cm in stockinette stitch (gently blocked)

construction

the moss rose hottie is worked entirely using only knit, purl and slip stitches as shown in a chart. you start by casting on the bottom edge and work your way up to the ‘neck’ of the bottle, sewing the cast on edge together at the end. it is recommended to use a longer cable needle to knit this piece with the magic loop method to evenly distribute both sides of the hot water bottle cover.

please note that this pattern has not been tested. I knitted and wrote up this pattern just for fun. please make sure your gauge and the size of your hot water bottle fits with the ones given in this pattern to ensure a successful finished object.
