mossy socks
My first sock design! I wanted to accentuate the heel and toe and have some simple but eye-catching texture following the natural shape of the foot. This design reminds me of the lush green mossy rocks you find at waterfalls in the Pacific Northwest.
Description
Sock is cast on at the cuff and worked top-down in the round to just before the heel. A heel setup portion is worked in the round to form the M-shaped pattern at the back of the heel, then heel flap is formed by working back and forth in rows, with an option for a slipped stitch heel. Heel turn is shaped with short rows. Stitches are picked up along heel flap sides, then joined to work in the round again. Gusset is decreased, then foot worked in the round, ending with a toe setup portion to form the M-shaped pattern at the toe. Round toe decrease charts are provided for all sizes, then sock is finished in Kitchener stitch.
