Mother-Daughter Headbands
This pattern is
available for free.
As an all-seasons accessory, headbands are a quick project for you or as a gift. Knit a little wider and they can double as a cowl. This project is worked back and forth on either straight or circular needles. The ends are grafted together after reaching a comfortable headband (or cowl) size. The knitter should be comfortable with both knit and purl stitches. Four different cable patterns will be knit. Cabling techniques can be done both with and without a cable (or spare) needle. The pattern can easily be worked in a heavier yarn for a wider headband or cowl but more yardage will be needed (adjust the needle size for yarn weight). Your headband can also be turned into a hat by creating an attached crown (with or without a ponytail hole!).
