This mother hen is very protective of her chicks. She can nurse them under her wings. You can actually fit 1 - 3 chicks in the wing pockets.

They are knitted on 2 needles with 8 ply (DK) or worsted yarn so even a beginner can make them. The mother hen is about 20cm (8”) high to the top of the comb and the chicks are about 8cm (3”) high .
