These mothman-themed socks feature miniature colorwork motifs of the beloved cryptid, making for a uniquely cozy and spooky accessory.

The socks are knitted top down from cuff to toe, beginning with a twisted rib cuff, stranded colorwork in the round, heel flap, gusset, and duplicate stitching to add the final details. The pattern is suitable for low-intermediate level knitters.

Materials

Needles:

  • 2.5 mm (US 1.5) circular needles

Note: This pattern was designed to be knitted in the round on 80 cm circular needles using the magic loop technique and instructions are written accordingly, but feel free to adjust for a different length cord or DPNs if that is your preference.

Yarn:

This pattern was designed using Rico Design Essentials Merino DK in Silver Grey, Black, and Red, and requires the following approximate quantities.

  • Gray: 52 g / 125 m / 137 yds (62 g / 149 m / 163 yds, 73 g / 176 m / 192 yds)
  • Black: 43 g / 104 m / 113 yds (51 g / 123 m / 134 yds, 60 g / 144 m / 158 yds)
  • Red: approximately 2 m / 2 ¼ yds for duplicate stitch

The featured yarn is a very lightweight DK yarn, and the pattern may also be worked with a sport yarn that can achieve the correct gauge.
