This slouchy hat is cozy to wear, and stylish with its form-fitting brim, textured body and coordinating top knot. The hat can be created in one or two colours; or use three for a colour-block statement. The design is inspired by the snow-covered, volcanic rock slopes of Antarctica’s only active volcano, Mount Erebus. It’s the perfect balance of comfort and style, and it looks great on almost everybody.

Pattern Notes
This hat is cast on in the round on circular needles, and knits up in 2 x 2 ribbing from the cast on edge, changing to the larger needle size for the Seed Stitch main body of the hat. The Seed Stitch texture continues up through the crown decreases. An I-cord top knot finishes the look, or you may choose to embellish with a faux fur pom-pom, or one made up from the remainer of the yarn.

This pattern uses Rowan Merino Aria, a perfectly soft and lofty yarn for this project. If knitting this hat all in one colour, purchase two skeins in the same dye lot.
