Mountain Ash Sweater
About:
Inspired by branches and brambles, the Mountain Ash Sweater is knit entirely in the round, from the top down. The pattern is knit in two colours, and the colour-work incorporates small knit bobbles to create little berries in the design and add texture.
Yarn Used:
Quince & Co Chickadee, DK Weight Yarn 100% American Wool, 181 yds (165 m) per 50g skein Colours: Peacock (MC), Lichen (CC )
Gauge:
24 sts and 30 rounds to a 10 cm/ 4 inch square, in the round, blocked
One-colour stockinette suggestion: US 5 (3.75 mm) needles. Colour-work pattern suggestion: US 6 (4 mm) needles.
Sizing:
The Mountain Ash Sweater comes in 9 sizes. Although it was designed to be loose-fitting, with around 6 inches (15 cm) of positive ease, you can choose a garment size with more or less ease, for a different fit.
Size A - Chest circumference: 34 inches (86.5 cm)
Size B - Chest circumference: 38 inches (96.5 cm)
Size C - Chest circumference: 42 inches (106.5 cm)
Size D - Chest circumference: 46 inches (117 cm)
Size E - Chest circumference: 50 inches (127 cm)
Size F - Chest circumference: 54 inches (137 cm)
Size G - Chest circumference: 58 inches (147.5 cm)
Size H - Chest circumference: 62 inches (157.5 cm)
Size I - Chest circumference: 66 inches (167.5 cm)

Uses DK-weight yarn. Note that modifying the pattern (ex. shorter sleeves, longer hem, etc) will impact overall yardage needed.

Size B - MC (1310 yds | 1200 m), CC (110 yds | 105 m)

- US 5 (3.75 mm) circular needles, length 32 inch (81.5 cm) or longer - for body and sleeves
- US 6 (4 mm) circular needles, length 32 inch (81.5 cm) or longer - for colour-work yoke
- US 4 (3.5 mm) circular needles, length 18 inch (45.5 cm) or longer - for ribbing
Difficulty:
Intermediate. Requires experience with 2-colour stranded colour-work and catching floats in stranded colour-work. Requires standard increasing/decreasing (M1L, M1R, SSK, and K2tog), and knitting bobbles.
