Mountain Fog
Design
Mountain Fog takes 5 skeins of tonal colors ranging from light to dark. The lightest color is featured at the back center panel and fades to the darkest color at both edges of the wrap.
The Feather & Fan stitch is utilized to create a soft wave in the fabric. The stitch uses simple yarn overs and decreases amidst a garter stitch backdrop, making this a quick and easy-to-memorize pattern completely free of purl stitches. Woo-hoo!
Yarn
A total of 900 yards/820 meters of Worsted or Aran weight yarn. You’ll need FIVE colors with approximately 180 yards/165 meters of each color.
Note: This pattern uses almost every yard of the yardage called for. When making your gauge swatch, use the lightest color. I’ve included the swatch in the total yardage so no need to pull out your swatch to reuse the yarn!
The yarn shown is Malaga from Hobbii Yarn in their 5-pack Bundle #01. The bundle includes 1 skein of each color: #1 Optic White, #5 Titanium, #7 Silver, #9 Dark Grey Melange & #10 Black. Each skein has 100g/180 yards/165 meters.
Here are some great yarns you can substitute: (Make sure that you use a fiber that will not bleed when blocked/washed.)
