The mountain streams of the Canadian Rockies knit their way through the mountains and foothills around Calgary, and they are the inspiration for this long, changing-motif scarf. This is a very long, stitch-sampler scarf with varied knit/purl stitches done in sections. I did the first two and last two sampler stitch sections in a complementary colour, but you can do all one colour, or change colour every new sampler section.
The sampler sections are all repeats of 5 or 10 stitches which are easy and quick to learn so you can relax while knitting. You could make the scarf narrower by removing a repeat; you can make it shorter by removing a sampler section.
