Mouse Rug
This flat rat mat fits one average sized cat. If your boi has extra chonk, the pattern can easily be widened and elongated to accommodate the extra girth.
Mr. Fiffles (pictured to the left) was kind enough to model the flat rat fat cat mat in action. Please note that Mr. Fiffles is blessed with extra girth, as well as extra floof, however he is pictured on a regular sized rug with no alterations. The more reasonably sized LeoCat did not want to pose for pictures today thankyouverymuch.
Perfect for throwing on your bed, couch, chair, or any sunny spot to prevent the cat fur from dispersing.
Size: Instructions are for one size, can be adjusted longer/wider if wanted. The finished size of the rug pictured in this pattern is 34 inches long (from nose to back toes), with 17 inches across the middle belly section.
Yarn: This rug is knit with two strands held together as one.
I used 2 strands of Red Heart SuperSaver in Light Grey, each 410 yds. (820 yds total)
A great alternative could be:
2 strands, each 410 yds of Lion Brand Wool-Ease in Grey Heather (820 yds total)
You will also need pink yarn for the inner ears and tail, and white for the whiskers and claws.
I used:
2 strands, each 35 yds of Red Heart SuperSaver in light pink (70 yds total)
15 yds Red Heart Super Saver in White (for claws and whiskers)
Needles: US 15 (10 mm), or size needed to obtain gauge/size that is easiest for you to work with.
Gauge: 11 sts and 19 rows = 4 x 4 inch swatch in garter stitch (knit every row)
Other Materials: 2 large black buttons for eyes (pictured are buttons with a 2.25 cm diameter)
Make Butterball McPufflepants a happy kitty this holiday season.
Happy knitting!!
