Mouse Wobblers
Push these little mouse wobblers down and they pop right back up! See the last photo for one in action (a low quality .gif, but it gives you the idea!) A simple pattern, the wobblers are knit in the round from the bottom up. Before they are closed at the top, an internal weight is installed, and they are stuffed with fiberfill. The ears, snout and arms are knit from purl bumps on the surface of the wobbler. The wobbler is then felted in a washing machine, with the eyes, nose and whiskers embroidered post-felting.
Yarn Requirements:
Yarn A (Body, Snout and Arms): 1 Skein Knit Picks Wool of the Andes Worsted; Color: Gosling; Yardage: Large-75, Small-40
Yarn B (Ears and Tail): 1 Skein Knit Picks Palette; Color Gosling
Yardage: 20
Yarn C (Nose and Hands):5 yards of any fingering to worsted weight pink yarn
Notions: Scissors, tapestry needle, stitch markers, fiberfill, black embroidery thread or yarn (for eyes), white beading thread (for whiskers), washers (see information on Internal Weight)
Internal Weight:
Large Wobbler: 1.5 inch diameter steel washers, weighing a total of 4 oz.
Small Wobbler: 1.5 inch diameter steel washers, weighing a total 3 oz
ANNOUNCEMENT: I have found that many of my customers are accomplished knitters but are unsure of their felting skills. There are many little tips that can help with felting that are too varied or random to include in every pattern. I have just started a newsletter to answer direct questions and offer some tips that will help you achieve the outcome you want. In it, I will also announce new patterns, provide newsletter-only discounts. The newsletter will be monthly and you will not be bombarded with emails! Thanks!
