CROCHET PATTERN (INTERMEDIATE level, WRITTEN in ENGLISH, standard US terms, abbreviated, 1 PDF file, Instant Download) for a trendy winter sports headwear – ergonomically designed BALACLAVA SKI MASK with a Mouth Hole and unique 4-way-stretch ribbed texture.
The whole product is crocheted:
- in one piece (with a single seam at the back),
- in Back Loop Only.
MANDATORY GAUGE (crochet density) per 4’’ (10 cm) in Single Crochets, for a specific size (head circumference):
- XS (up to 20.9’’ / 53 cm): 18 stitches;
- S (up to 21.7’’ / 55 cm): 17 stitches;
- M (up to 22.4’’ / 57 cm): 16 stitches;
- L (up to 23.2’’ / 59 cm): 15 stitches.
Head circumference of the dummy in the pictures is 21.7’’ (55 cm).
You will need enough TIME, ATTENTION, and PATIENCE to constantly COUNT THE STITCHES in each row.
The total number of rows is 31.
The number of stitches in each row varies from 49 to 134 due to the unique system of Increases / Decreases, which makes the item beautifully contoured and ergonomically fitted.

You will need up to 250 yds (230 m) of LIGHT or MEDIUM worsted yarn (US weight category 3 or 4) with NOT LESS than 185 yds / 3.5 oz (170 m / 100 g).
Crochet HOOK 4.5 mm (US 7) and only 1 skein (!) of YarnArt CHARISMA NEW yarn used to crochet the item in the photos (size S; applicable to Size M):
1 skein = 218 yds / 3.52 oz (200 m / 100 g),
75% Wool, 25% Acrylic.
For LARGE Adult Size, SUGGESTED crochet HOOKS US H-8 (5.0 mm) or I-9 (5.5 mm), and YARNS:
