Mr. Crabtree’s Hat is a slouchy stranded colour work beanie; with options for a folded or single layer brim, and notes for customizing length.

The design is large scale knit stitches inspired by the wonderful artwork in the book “Extra Yarn”.

This pattern, for all sizes, uses no more than 150yds of the MC and 100 yds of the CC, which means no more than 50g of either. You can use DK weight yarn, 2 strands of fingering weight held together, or any combination that gets the specified gauge.

The colour work will be knit on either size 6 or size 7 needles. I like to size up (in this case the size 7s) while working colour work to keep a better tension. If you are generally a loose knitter this may not be required.
