Mr Monk: A Sock Monkey Pocket Pal
Mr Monk is the latest addition to our growing Pocket Pal family. He is a super cute one based on the sock monkey dolls of our childhood. Like the other Pocket Pal he is a soft friend with a tummy pocket to hide treats or secrets.
He can be knit in a variety of sizes by varying your yarn weight and adjusting your needle size accordingly. This pattern has detailed instructions for two sizes. The large is made from worsted weight yarn and is approximately 16 inches when completed (from the top of the head to the tip of the toes). The mini is absolutely adorable. He measures 8 approximately 8 inches and can be made from 50 yards of sock weight yarn. (A perfect amount for stash busting for all you sock knitters out there!) Both sizes also require about 15 yards of a contrasting color of yarn for the hands and feet.
This is a pattern for an advanced beginner. The monkey’s shaping is created with short rows and double knitting. The pattern includes links to photo tutorials for both techniques.
