● This project is made from the centre outwards, the border is worked as 4 separate sections off the centre square. These are joined together, using an easy vintage method, as you make the shawl. This means no long rows worked in the round, each border is worked flat but without having to sew the borders together at the end.

● The lace is added to each border section when it is completed and not in one go at the end. This breaks up the knitting into smaller sections and reduces the monotony of knitting large amounts of the same pattern.

● The stitch patterns are beautiful but easy to do. The corners are not mitred, the stitches are increased in the pattern which gives a neater look to the finished shawl.

● This construction method gives no tight edges to the knitting which makes it easier to block and shape.

The pattern looks beautiful in the yarn chosen. The high silk content gives wonderful stitch definition but any fine lace weight yarn would look stunning. Obviously this will influence the finished size of the shawl and amount of yarn required.
