Mt. Shuksan Cowl
Errata: Row 3 Stitch 13 should be a Slip stitch with yarn in back.
Cushy garter stitch mosaic patterning is combined with offset cables for a cozy cowl with cable patterning that is almost an optical illusion. A narrow hem of ribbing is worked on either end for added texture and a visual border.
I do love a good cowl, they are so easy to tuck in under a coat and never come undone like a scarf does. The straightforward shaping of a simple tube was the perfect canvas for this interesting mosaic crossings pattern that is so much easier than it looks. We have done a fair number of drives through the Rocky Mountains, and I am always keen to see the patterns created by the trees and the snow in the upper reaches of those massive monoliths. The stitch pattern on this cowl is a nod to those isolated forests, covered with snow for so many months of the year and mostly visited by prying eyes of passengers riding far below them.
