A classic beanie with cable details inspired by French braid hairstyles. Pattern includes both written and charted instructions for the cables.

Named after the lovely beach in Scotland I visit most years, and where I would definitely like to be right now!

All winter accessory patterns are £3 individually or £5 for any 2, no code necessary.

YARN
Chunky / bulky weight yarn, approximately 125 metres / 137 yards. Sample shown in The Fibre Co. Tundra, a blend of 60% Alpaca, 30% Merino and 10% Silk, in shade ‘Harp Seal’.

Yarns used by test knitters: We Are Knitters The Petite Wool, Sandes Garn Alfa, Stylecraft Special Chunky, and James Brett Shetland Mist

Note: this yarn is on the slightly finer end of the chunky/bulky yarn scale, so I’d recommend swatching before using a thicker yarn.

NEEDLES & NOTIONS
5.5 mm needles of your preferred length for working small circumferences in the round (ie. 40cm circulars, DPNs, or long needles for magic loop). You will also need a cable needle, tapestry needle, and 4 stitch markers, with 1 different to the others.

GAUGE
21 sts and 21 rows to 4” / 10cm in 2x2 rib, blocked, unstretched.

SIZING
One size, to fit average adult head. Finished hat has a circumference of 16 inches / 41 cm unstretched, which comfortably stretches to fit a head of 21 – 24 inches / 53 – 61 cm.

I LOVE seeing people knit my patterns and make them their own - if you could tag @lilykatemakes and #MuasdaleHat on Instagram that would be great!
