Muileata Shawl
This shawl was inspired by Celtic interlocking knots, so the name is the Gaelic word for diamonds. (Also, my stepdaughter recommended “Diamonds in the Rough”, which was not exactly original so I branched out.)
The shawl is constructed with three lace diamond panels separated by garter rib panel. The edging extends the interlocking diamonds across the whole shawl.
Pattern was test knitted.
Yarn: about 650 yards of fingering weight yarn. Sample was knit with Tough Love Sock yarn by Sweet Georgia.
Needles: US 6. I used a 29” circular. Use whatever size gets the lacy effect that you like.
Notions: stitch markers, darning needle, blocking materials, small crochet hook for placing beads (No. 10 or whatever fits through your beads), about 150 size 6/0 beads
Skills used in this pattern: basic lace skills, placing beads using a crochet hook, reading charts, blocking
Pattern is mostly in charts, with only basic overall instructions in written form.
Pattern is 7 pages long, 6 or which are essential for the pattern
