This is a riff on a classic saddle shoulder pullover that will become a wardrobe staple when the weather turns chilly.
Worked in the round from the bottom up, the front and back are divided at the armholes by placing the underarm stitches on holders. Some slight shaping along the armholes, then short-row shaping at the shoulders produces a modified armhole.
Stitches for the shoulder saddle are cast on, then stitches picked up along the shoulder and armhole edges. Work the shoulder saddle and join to the stitches along the shoulder. Once that’s complete, begin short-rows to shape the sleeve cap and decrease some stitches for a better fitting sleeve. Once you get to the bottom of the armhole, the sleeve is worked in the round to the cuff.
There are no seams in the pullover! But for anyone not wanting to try the seamless version, I’ve included instructions for working the sleeves from the cuff up for a sleeve that will be sewn into the armhole.
