Mulberries
This pretty shawl is perfect for a summer evening. Big enough to add warmth, but light and lacy with a bit of beading. (Beads are optional, you will need 800 size 6/0 glass beads.) The color of the lovely Alegria yarn reminds me of the berries on our big old mulberry tree and the summer ritual of sweeping the dropped berries off the patio.
The yarn is very soft and blocks well. The beads are embedded in the “mulberry shapes” in the lace section of the shawl and also along the top edge. There are big dramatic points at the bottom of the crescent shaped lace section. This would look great in a solid color also, with beads to match or contrast.
Have fun with this one! There is a large, easy-to-read chart with full instructions and also the lace pattern is written out for those who prefer not to work from a chart. Full directions are included for the easy wraps and turns. You will need to know or learn to knit, purl, k2tog, ssk, and yo.
